Agreement to these Terms

By creating or using a Stratos account, accepting an invitation, accessing a household workspace, or otherwise using Stratos, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Stratos.

1. Who may use Stratos

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into these Terms.

Stratos is currently available through a household invitation, a controlled tester invitation, or another access method approved by Kapex Labs.

You may use only the account, invitation, and household access intended for you. You may not transfer an invitation, authentication link, or account to another person.

2. About Stratos

Stratos helps households organize financial plans and records. Features may include income planning, budgets, spending records, accounts, bills, debts, payment records, linked-account balances, warnings, and Safe-to-Spend or other planning summaries.

Stratos is a planning and recordkeeping tool. It is not a bank, payment processor, lender, broker, investment adviser, tax adviser, accounting firm, or law firm. Stratos does not hold funds, move money, pay bills, stop transactions, or guarantee that money is available.

3. No professional advice

Stratos does not provide financial, investment, tax, accounting, credit, insurance, or legal advice. Information and calculations in Stratos are general planning tools and are not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who understands your circumstances.

You remain responsible for financial decisions, payment obligations, tax reporting, account monitoring, and verifying information before acting on it.

4. Accounts and security

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate account information.
  • Maintaining control of your email account, password, devices, and authentication links.
  • Using reasonable security precautions.
  • Promptly reporting suspected unauthorized access.
  • Ensuring that anyone you invite is authorized to view the household information.

Do not share passwords, recovery links, magic links, or invitation links publicly. Kapex Labs may treat activity performed through your authenticated account as authorized until you report a compromise and the access can reasonably be secured.

5. Household roles and shared information

Stratos is a shared household workspace.

  • Owners may manage invitations, roles, settings, and household access.
  • Editors may update household financial records.
  • Viewers may read the household plan without changing it.

Role capabilities may change as Stratos evolves. The product’s current permission controls determine what an authenticated member can do.

By entering information into a household, you understand that other authorized members of that household may see it according to their role. You represent that you are authorized to enter and share that information with the household.

Household owners are responsible for reviewing membership and removing access that is no longer appropriate. Kapex Labs is not responsible for disagreements among household members about information that an authorized member entered, changed, or viewed.

6. Accuracy and planning results

Stratos calculations depend on the information recorded in the workspace and on the product’s current rules. Information may be incomplete, delayed, estimated, categorized incorrectly, entered for the wrong date, or not yet confirmed.

Before relying on Safe-to-Spend or another result, review the household’s expected income, recorded income, spending, bills, debts, pay periods, balances, desired buffer, and recent changes.

Safe-to-Spend is a planning estimate. It is not a bank balance, guarantee, credit decision, payment authorization, or promise that funds will remain available.

7. Linked financial accounts and Plaid

Connecting a financial institution is optional and uses Plaid.

Financial-institution credentials are entered through Plaid’s flow, not into a Stratos form. Plaid and the connected institution control the availability, timing, and content of linked-account information.

Stratos’ current Plaid integration provides read-only account metadata and balance snapshots. It does not currently import Plaid transaction history or initiate financial transactions.

Linked balances may be delayed, unavailable, inaccurate, or based on cached information. You must verify important balances and transactions directly with the financial institution.

Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid’s applicable terms and privacy notice (opens Plaid’s site in a new tab). Kapex Labs is not responsible for a third-party institution or service being unavailable, changing its data, refusing a connection, or providing inaccurate or delayed information.

8. Auto Pay and payment records

An Auto Pay designation in Stratos means that a bill is expected to be paid outside Stratos. Stratos does not verify or execute the external payment automatically. A pending Auto Pay bill remains pending until an authorized user records or confirms an appropriate status.

Payment records, bill status, debt balances, and linked transactions in Stratos must be reviewed by the household. Recording an item as paid in Stratos does not cause a real-world payment.

9. Your information and permission to operate the service

You retain your rights in information you enter into Stratos.

You grant Kapex Labs a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, display, and otherwise use that information only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, support, maintain, and improve Stratos; comply with law; and enforce these Terms.

You represent that you have the rights and authority needed to provide the information and permit its use within the household workspace. Kapex Labs does not claim ownership of your household financial records.

10. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • Access or attempt to access another account or household without authorization.
  • Share or misuse another person’s invitation, recovery link, session, or credentials.
  • Circumvent household roles, authentication, rate limits, or security controls.
  • Probe, scan, test, or exploit vulnerabilities without written authorization.
  • Interfere with the operation or availability of Stratos.
  • Introduce malware, destructive code, or automated abuse.
  • Scrape or extract data through unauthorized automated means.
  • Use Stratos to violate law, infringe rights, commit fraud, harass others, or facilitate harmful activity.
  • Misrepresent Stratos output as verified bank, accounting, tax, legal, or investment advice.
  • Reverse engineer or copy Stratos except to the limited extent a restriction is prohibited by law.

Kapex Labs may investigate suspected misuse and may suspend access while protecting users or the service.

11. Stratos ownership

Stratos, including its software, design, branding, text, interfaces, documentation, and underlying technology, is owned by Kapex Labs or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Subject to these Terms, Kapex Labs grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use Stratos for its intended household-planning purpose. No rights are granted except those expressly stated.

12. Feedback

If you provide ideas, suggestions, or feedback about Stratos, you allow Kapex Labs to use that feedback without restriction or payment. This does not transfer ownership of your household financial records.

13. Early-access and evolving features

Stratos may be offered in alpha, beta, preview, test, or early-access form. Early-access features may be incomplete, contain errors, change materially, or be discontinued.

Kapex Labs may add, modify, limit, suspend, or remove features. When reasonably practical, Kapex Labs will provide notice of a material change that significantly affects existing access or data handling.

Do not rely on Stratos as the only copy of information you must preserve. Export functionality may be limited or unavailable during early access.

14. Fees

Unless Kapex Labs separately presents pricing and you agree to it, current tester or early access does not authorize Kapex Labs to charge you.

If paid plans are introduced, the price, billing frequency, renewal, cancellation, refund, and tax terms will be presented before a charge is authorized. Paid-plan terms may supplement these Terms.

15. Privacy

The Stratos Privacy Policy explains how information is handled and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

16. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Stratos at any time. You may request account or household deletion through the process described in the Privacy Policy, subject to verification, shared-household authority, legal obligations, security needs, and backup cycles.

Kapex Labs may suspend or terminate access if it reasonably believes that:

  • These Terms have been violated.
  • The account or service is being misused.
  • Continued access creates legal, security, fraud, or operational risk.
  • An invitation or access grant was unauthorized.
  • The service or feature is being discontinued.

When reasonably possible, Kapex Labs will provide notice. Immediate action may be taken when necessary to protect users, data, third parties, or the service.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, governing law, and dispute provisions—will survive.

17. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Stratos is provided “as is” and “as available.”

Kapex Labs disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, and accuracy, except where a disclaimer is prohibited by law.

Kapex Labs does not warrant that:

  • Stratos will always be available or free from errors.
  • A calculation, alert, linked balance, category, due date, or status will be complete or current.
  • Data loss, unauthorized access, or service interruption will never occur.
  • Stratos will meet every household’s needs.

Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

18. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kapex Labs and its owners, personnel, affiliates, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; lost profits or opportunities; loss of data; missed payments; overdrafts; interest; penalties; tax consequences; investment losses; or losses arising from reliance on planning information, even if advised that such harm was possible.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to Stratos or these Terms will not exceed the greater of:

  1. The amount you paid Kapex Labs for Stratos during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; or
  2. One hundred U.S. dollars (US $100).

These limits do not apply where liability cannot be limited under applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or liability limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

19. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except to the extent federal law applies.

Unless applicable law requires otherwise, disputes arising from these Terms or Stratos will be brought in the courts of competent jurisdiction located in Puerto Rico, and you consent to their jurisdiction and venue.

20. Changes to these Terms

Kapex Labs may update these Terms as Stratos changes.

This page will identify the effective and last-updated dates. If a change materially affects existing users, Kapex Labs will provide additional notice through Stratos, email, or another appropriate channel. Continued use after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance where permitted.

21. General terms

If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect and the unenforceable provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted.

A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without Kapex Labs’ consent. Kapex Labs may assign these Terms as part of a merger, reorganization, financing, sale, or transfer of the service.

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the complete agreement between you and Kapex Labs regarding ordinary access to Stratos, unless you and Kapex Labs have signed a separate written agreement that expressly governs the service. A separate signed agreement controls only to the extent of a conflict.
